Tips For Flying With A Toddler Planning a trip with your youngster? Well you have come to the right place I am going to be giving you tips for flying with a toddler here. This sounds like a fairly easy thing to do right? well it may tend to get a bit complex. If you sit and take the time to plan things out you may not have that big of a problem flying with your toddler. Think things out thoroughly and prepare for everything. One important thing to remember is that you must keep the same rules you have at home on the plane as well. Just because they are going some where new and exciting does not mean that the same rules do not apply. Things like kicking, shouting and being out of line are not appropriate in the least bit. Do you want to sit next to an angry passenger because your child is bothering them the whole time? I know i sure would not and would not want others to see the way my child is acting like that. I am going to give you some great tips for flying with a toddler that may further help you on your journey

Flying With A Toddler

  1. Start to plan for the trip way in advance. By doing things like writing a check list out of all the items you will be taking with you, packing yours and your child's things as you go on, figure out roughly what kind of cash that you might be spending.
  2. Make sure if your child has a favorite toy, blanket, pillow, pacifier or whatever they do you bring that with you. They will probably freak out if they do not have it with them.
  3. Bring a variety of toys for them. Maybe a Walkman, bring your laptop and find cartoons or music they like and get headphone so they can listen to it and watch.
  4. This may be a bit more expensive but you will have to buy then their own spot on the plane, they say kids rider for free but that is if they are on your lap. Who wants to take a long plane ride with a child on their lap the whole time. Plus they can have their own table if they want to play or watch a show or just to feel independent and like a big kid
  5. Plan the trip right about when it is time for them to nap, so when they board the plane they are already tired and the motion will possibly tire them out even more.
  6. Have snacks, drinks and other foods on hand for them.
  7. You should always remember to make sure you have some kind of identification on your child, just in case of any emergency.
  8. Here is a game you can do with them wrap up either dollar store toys or their own toys and let them go to town, this takes up more time and they have fun doing so.
  9. You should always bring a carry on bag with you for different things. Such as diapers, wipes, hygiene products, extra clothing disposable bibs, food, drinks and so on.
  10. If the child is old enough, well even if they are not try to tell them about the plane, what they are to do and when you enter it you can show the child different thing on and outside of the plane to keep them interested.
  11. Make up little games you and the child can play together
  12. If the child is very scared you may want to try and give them some Benadryl to relax them and calm them down. I am not condoning drugging them up at all, just if they are real wired and are not calming down no matter what you try this may be the only option that you have.

This is an image of an airplaneThese are just some tips that will help you and your child get through that long plane ride without having others angry with you or a grouchy child in the end. Make flying with your child fun and not a chore. Be safe and have a great time.
