Tips On Getting Your Child To Sleep In Their Room

• The biggest thing is to not place them in bed with you from the start. If they have their own room from the time they are born till whatever age they are now, you should get into their heads every day even if it causes a fight that they are to sleep in their own bedroom, eventually from doing this and not giving in the child will get the hang of it.
• Talk about it through out the day if the child is old enough to understand. Things like your such a big boy or girl now and that is why you have your very own big kid bed or mommy and daddy have their own bed and so do you. Just always keep the talk positive.
• Bed time stories or songs are always a good thing to help them through the night.
• Keep a normal routine, kids get use to doing things in a certain way. You have to keep consistency with things like right after dinner is a little play time, then bath and tooth brushing, play a little more, then potty, story and bed.
• If they scream and cry let them go they will eventually fall asleep, should you happen to have a little one stammer in half way through the night get up and take them back to their room and tell them this is your bed and this is where you sleep, not in mommy and daddies bed. This is why you have your big kid bed.
• If the child has been sleeping with you for a while now it will be even tougher. You may want to try and bunk on the floor in their room. Staying there the whole night, just in case they get up and try to look for you. Gradually move further and further from their bed till you are by the door then just get up and go.
• Get a baby gate to where they can not leave the room, yes they may cry and scream for a while but if you keep doing this they may get us to the fact that mom and dad are not coming even if i am crying so just go back to bed.
• Try putting a television in to their room and let them watch cartoons or their favorite show while going to bed.
• Try coaxing them with a prize for every day they sleep in their own bed even if it something small like a cookie or a small toy. Sometimes kids like that they are being rewarded.
• Try to find your child's favorite toy and let them sleep with it. They may just need some comfort and if they have something they like in bed with them it may help the process

Believe me when I say that a lot of these methods work. I have four children and have had a few issues with them trying to sleep with me and my husband. If you just keep your foot down and stay in control eventually you will break them from this much annoying habit.
