Is Your Child Ready For Preschool?Do you think that your child is ready to start preschool yet, but are not certain? Your child may be doing a lot of things that seem real advanced to you and others, but they may have other issues that can prevent them from entering preschool just yet. I am not saying they are not brilliant enough to go. They may just not quite be ready in certain fields where they need to be. Preschools normally start taking children at the ages of 2 to 3 years old depending on their ability to do and handle different task. Here are some questions that you have to be able to answer when wondering how to tell if your child is ready for preschool.

When Is A Child Ready For Preschool?

  1. Can your child do things on their own? Are they for the most part independent? Like potty trained? Can they wash their own hands, eat by themselves, dress themseleves for the most part? They may still need a little assistance with their clothes.
  2. Has the child ever been away from you for an extended period of time with no fuss? If the child can not be away from you without screaming the whole time then they may not be quite ready yet.
  3. Is the child able to do different projects independently? Things like coloring, puzzles, playing with toys and other activites.
  4. Is your child able to partake in group projects? can they play well with others like sitting in a circle for a game, story time, group sports and such.
  5. Can your child stay with a steady schedule? In school there are certain times to do different things. Will they be able to have play time, eat lunch, nap time, song time and so on all at certain times of the day.
  6. Will the child be able to keep up with preschool times? Being as though there is so much to do in preschool and some things they may not be use to doing will they be up to par with doing these different tasks?
  7. Can your child speak clearly and understand what others say to them?If the child can not respond to others or let you know what they are thinking then maybe it is not the right time to place them in a preschool

If you have answered yes to most if not all of these questions then you should start looking for the perfect school for your child, because they are all signs that they are ready to go. But if the answer to these were no then I would suggest just waiting a little longer for them to be ready. Give them time and they will be off and going. But the most important thing is to always try and work with your child to better their skills even if they are not quite ready for school yet.
