Signs Of Depression In Children

Have you noticed that your child is acting differently towards you or others, or just is not their self in general? First thing you may want to do is try and sit down with them and talk to them. See if they will talk to you about what might be going on with them. Now they may not want to at this point and time. You always want to let them know that if they ever need to talk to you they can feel free to do so and you will never turn them down. If they do refuse to talk to you right away do not pressure them in to trying to do so this may just make matters worse. Then the child will feel like they are being forced to talk about things that they may not even know what is going on but they think you will be expecting some kind of answer. Some times a child will lie to a parent when they do not want them to know or they cannot answer this for themselves. What may be the problem is that your child is going through something called depression. This is when a child or any person for that matter has a disorder that interferes with daily things such s eating, sleeping, focusing, emotions, mood swings and more. There are several signs of depression in children that you can be seen without being a profession physician.

Signs Your Child Is Suffering From Depression

If you think that your child may be suffering from depression there are signs that you can look for to see if that is the problem. Now not all children will experience some or any of these signs around you. They may do things to others or in school or even out on the streets that they would never normally do. Below I am going to post up a list of signs of depression in children that you can look for to see if your child is suffering from depression and you can then work on how to get them the profession help that they need. Weather it be medication, a therapist, counselor or just need you to be there for them a little more.

1. If their mood changes a lot.
2. Either a lack in eating or a progression.
3. If they keep to themselves more then normal.
4. Their sleeping patterns change.
5. If they are doing bad in school, when you know they normally do good.
6. The child may become anxious. They may become panicky, tense and freak out.
7. They start to think negative thoughts about themselves or others.
8. They may want to harm someone or themselves.
9. They may be more sensitive then usual.

What To Do If Your Child Is Depressed

These are some of the signs that your child may be going through depression. There are different forms of depression but that is only something that the child's doctor can determine when the child has gotten seen by them. This is not something that you want to take lightly. If you notice some of these going on with them try to get to the root of the problem before something very wrong happens to them or someone else. You have to understand that when your child is going through this they are sometimes not in the right mind set and may do things that they normally would not do. So their actions for the most part may not be something that they can control, this is why they need to go seek help right away if you notice these things in them.
