Finding the reason is the most important thing you want to do in helping them. Here are some reasons that they may be having troubles

  1. They may not be getting the proper rest they need and causing them to fall asleep in class. This will make them miss out on the lesson that is being taught.
  2. Problems they are having at home
  3. They may not understand what is being taught to them
  4. They may not be able to see the lesson on the board. They may need glasses
  5. They may have a learning disability that you do not know about
  6. If they are being picked on or bullied by another individual
  7. Your child may be depressed about something
  8. Your child may be bored. They may know all their is to know in a certain class and they have no interest in doing what is going on.

These are some reasons that your child may be having a tough time in school now I am going to tell you ways that may help you with helping your child through their tough times in school.

How to help children struggling in school

Once you have found out the reasons your child is doing poorly or just having a hard time with what is being taught to them then you can find a way to help them over come what is going on and then they can start to pick up and do a better job.

  • If it because they are not sleeping enough then you have to make their bed time earlier and make sure they are going to bed and not staying up playing
  • If it is problems at home then you have to find solutions to fix what is going on so your child can get the proper education they need and stop being so concerned with everything in the home.
  • If you child is not understanding what is being taught tell them it is ok to raise your hand and ask questions. Or they can stay after school and do an after school class to get extra help. There may be some kind of other after school programs you can put the child in to help them better. You as their parent can sit down with them and you can try to break it down for them to make it easier to understand. The child may even need to be placed in to some kind of remedial classes to better understand what is being taught to them.
  • You may want to have their ears and eyes checked out. They may have a hard time seeing or hearing the lesson being taught to them.
  • You may find out that they have a learning disability and have to take them to see a specialist. If that is the situation you may just have to work a little harder with them to help them through it.
  • Your child may be being bullied by another child or some one else. If this is what is going on it needs to be addressed with the school and the other students involved
  • If the child is depressed about things you may want to try and sit with the child to find out what is wrong. If this does not work they may need to go and see a special doctor for this so they can determine what to do.
  • If the child is bored with the lesson that is being taught to them they may need to be placed in a class that is a little more challenging for them.

Whatever the reason your child may be having a tough time in school needs to be taken care of right away. Their grades depend on that. If they do not get help then they have the chance to be left behind and this may be a lot worse then just having a hard time. They may drop out or start acting out in a bad manor. As parents we always want what is best for our child so do not ever take lightly your child's problems in school. You always want to check in with them and ask to see the work they have done, if it is not right offer a hand to help them better it.
