How To Get Your Kids Ready For The First Day Of School Different children react different ways to the first day of school. There are some that just go right in and talk to every one in there while others will cry and not want to interact at all. There are children who will not even get on their bus when it comes for them. Below is a helpful list on how to get your child ready for the first day of school.

Preparing For The First Day Of School

  1. Try to find out who will be in your Child's class before school starts and set up play dates so the child can get use to interacting with other kids. Then they will have someone to play with when they get to their class.
  2. If the child can understand try to tell them about school before they go so they are prepared for it. Tell them all the fun things that go on and all the positive things that go along with going to school.
  3. Try starting them in a head start program or a daycare so they will get us to being around children and not be as afraid when they start going to regular school.
  4. Before school starts get them on a schedule so they are use to getting up at a certain time and going to bed at a certain time.
  5. Let the child be independent with other things such as using the bathroom, dressing, doing chores, and so on.
  6. You and your child should practice not being around one another for a few hours a day if that is possible. Try to get babysitter or someone to watch them for a short time.
  7. You may want to take them in the first couple of days and get them situated. If they cry when you go do not go back to them. It is best to let the teacher handle it. This may cause the child to cry more because they think they are leaving with you.
  8. If they have a favorite toy, book, stuffed animal, family photo or something of that sort let them take it with them for comfort.
  9. Tell them if they do okay the first day they will get a special surprise after they get home.
  10. Make sure when the child gets up you let them pick out what they want to wear.
  11. Having a good breakfast will always make a happier child.

These helpful tips will help you get your child ready for their first day of school and everyday that comes after. Remember you only get one chance to see your child off to their first day and it is something you will cherish forever.
