Tired of throwing food away either because you do not have room in the freezer for it or it has gotten freezer burned. This is just like taking money out of your pocket and throwing it in the trash can. Freezer burn will not harm you but it gives the food a bad taste and makes it tougher to eat. So to save yourself a whole bunch of money and time I will give you a list of how to properly store food in the freezer and save yourself time and money.

Proper Freezer Storage Tips

• Tupperware. If the food you are freezing is a soup or sauce of some kind then you will want to get Tupperware bowls and plastic containers with locking lids and place them in there.
• Freezer bags are heavy duty and they zip closed. Freezer bags are made of a thicker plastic material which keeps the air out. You can get these types of bags just about anywhere that you shop even a dollar store. You can take meats that you have purchased out of that Styrofoam and place them in the freezer bags. You can also use freezer bags for fruits, vegetables and other kinds of leftovers.
• Glass. Glass baking dishes are great for storage in the freezer. You will want to make sure that you put either plastic wrap or aluminum foil over the top first. Then place the lid on it.
• Aluminum foil. You can wrap different items of food in heavy duty aluminum foil and place them in the freezer. Make sure that they are completely covered up not leaving any open spots for air to get in. If you want to be a little extra safe after you wrap it in the foil you can then place it into a freezer bag to give it extra protection.
• Their own packaging. Some foods can be placed right into the freezer after you purchase them. Candy bars, hot dogs, breads, juices, bacon, sausage as well as other items. You want to inspect the packing first to make sure there are no holes or tears in it so again the air will not get in and cause freezer burn.

These are the most affective ways to properly you food in the freezer so you are not constantly throwing things away. Just remember if it is foil or something that can not be seen through you will want to label what it is so you do not have to open it up and possibly forget to cover it all the way.
