Did you know that certain foods you eat will determine how you sleep at night? Well it is true foods do a lot to a person and in many different ways. Believe it or not many foods can calm the brain as others get the brain up and going. What are foods that will help you sleep through the night? If you should find yourself up at 3am tossing and turning you may want to look at the foods you are eating and see if that is what may be keeping you up. In certain foods there is a substance that is called tryptophan and this is what helps a person sleep. It calms the brain and body and gives you the adequate sleep you so desire to have.
Tryptophan is a chemical that lets the body make an amino acid called L-Tryptophan. This amino acid is necessary in making neurotransmitters that are serotonin and melatonin. Neurotransmitters help make the nerve traffic in the brain much more calm and relaxed. In turn making you able to sleep because the brain is doing a great deal less work.
Just one problem to think about. Some of the foods containing tryptophan also have another amino acid which is tyrosine this is what wakes you up and gets you motivated. If they are eaten together then there will be no good or bad outcome at all because the acids will counteract one another.
So if you are going insane from inadequate sleep try changing the foods you eat. Especially before you go to bed and with out a doubt in my mind you will find yourself sleeping through the night like a baby.
