Landscape your garden! But why should I landscape my garden you may ask, or how do I landscape my own garden! I see too many times people have these really lovely homes all done nicely inside, everything in its place and decorated just the way they want it, but then looking outside there are either gardens that have over grown or nothing at all. They have no plants, flowers, shrubs, garden beds or anything to spice the home up just that little bit more. People notice the outside of the home first, so why not put some beautiful landscaping down to give it that 200% look rather then just that 90%. I do not mean you have to go hog wild crazy and over due it, just place 1 or 2 gardens in the front of your home if you can and place either flowers or some nice shrubbery around. I will write a list of different things to do so you can make a nice garden bed for your home.

How To Get Started Landscaping Your Own Garden

Below I have outlined 13 easy steps to take when deciding how to landscape your garden.

1. Look at how your home is shaped and how much space that you are working with.
2. Then you can figure the design you want for your new flower or shrub bed.
3. You will then want to take either chalk, spray paint or a hose and make an outline where and how you want the bed to be. Then make your outline.
4. Now you can take a hoe and cut out the outline.
5. If there is grass when you want to put your garden take a flat shovel and scoop out all of the grass.
6. You will now take a hard rake and till up the soil and try to remove all of the roots and other unwanted things that may still be lingering around.
7. You will want to wait for a few weeks to start planting anything there just so all the roots that are exposed will die out and anything else that was there as well will be gone.
8. Now that you have waited you will want to rake the dirt to soften it up and till the fresh dirt to the top. If it is to wet you will have to wait till it is a little drier to work in.
9. If you can make an outline of your flower bed this may help to be more organized. Now you can start to design what you want your garden to look like, and what you will be placing in it.
10. Remember to try and have some kind of color scheme so you are not just planting all kinds of weird and different things. But if that is what you want to do then by all means who am I to stop you.
11. Now you can dig your holes and plant your new flowers and things.
12. Clean up any mess left behind and rake the soil level with a flex rake.
13. If you want you can even put some mulch down to give it that kick and to help keep some of the flowers moisture in and weeds out.
