How To Install Drip Irrigation

Drip irrigation is a lot better to use then any other system because it sits right at the base of the plants and drips water where it needs to be. It also does not leave puddles around the bed causing mold, fungus and drowning of the flowers. This method is fairly easy to install as long as you follow all the instructions properly. I will give you a list of tools you will need to install a drip irrigation system to your flower bed as well as teach you how to install a drip irrigation system in your yard.

• Gloves
• Spade or hand shovel
• Safety glasses
• Hose faucet

How To Install Your Irrigation System.

• First you will want to attach the anti-siphon, water filter and pressure reducer to your faucet. Than you can place your timer above the filter. Also you will want to get some kind of converter for your faucet so there are two spigots, one for your system and the other so you can use your hose.
• Then attach the submane to the pressure reducer.
• Now that the submane is attached roll it out into the sun. The sun will soften the tubing making it easier to put holes in it.
• Now unroll the tubing in your bed where you are going to be placing the drip lines.
• Now if the plants are smaller you want to take the emitter and punch a hole in the tubing and attach a small piece of dripline to it.
• If the plants are going to be larger in size then you will want to take a sprinkler emitter and attach that to the hole you have punched into the submane holding this up with a stake and topping the end off with a sprinkler cap.
• After you have put your emitters in where they all need to be with the dripline attached to it cover it all up with dirt leaving the end of it out so the plants get the water they need.
• At the end of the tubing bend it in half and close it with copper wire or a fitting even a hose clamp will work. Some kits come with them already.
• Now you will want to set the timer for your system. Give it a test run to see for any leaks, clogs or just basic things that may need fixing. After this is done now you are ready to set your system and go.
