There are two sides to Popular 1920s Vintage Clothing. 1920s was when fashion had just become real popular. Women decided to change up their look by wearing things that were of more comfort, like trousers and skirts. Gentlemen were doing the exact same thing and going from very professional clothing to something a little more sporty. As time went on people started to get use to the new fashion, and that is where the roaring 20's began. Women even began to cut their hair into a bob style so they could wear the new fitting hat and put their hair under them. The women has dresses that had lower waist lines and they were fuller towards the hemline so they could dance to new dances such as the "Charleston".
For the men they had short suit jackets, the longer jackets were for a more formal occasion. Lapels on suit jackets were not as big. The men's trousers were originally straight and worn shorter so their socks showed. But as the time went on that also changed. They started to put cuffs in the bottom of the pant legs. But again by 1925 things changed for the men's fashion and their pants got wider they were known as Oxford bags. And as far as the suit jackets were concerned they went back to the way they used to be. They also went with looser sleeves and had no tapers on them. They also were introduced to sports clothing, such as sweaters and short trousers (which are knickers).
There was another fashion movement in addition to the trend mentioned above. It was something of an opposite reaction to the style of women dressing comfortably. It was called the flapper style. Women wore dresses that were full of fringes and sequins, they were also a lot shorter in length and a lot more risque. They had short hair and wore a lot of make up and applied it in public. These types were the rebels and danced all night long to jazz. This fashion movement was representative of a cultural movement, and this counter culture label its era 'the roaring twenties'
