Vintage Clothing is a very popular form of fashion. It has risen in popularity over the last couple years, which is interesting because vintage, like pop (eg pop music), always remains the same definition. Vintage clothes are something other than contemporary. Technically, clothing from the 90's or even the turn of the millennium could be considered vintage, as long as you can encapsulate a certain look into that time period.
Vintage Clothes is clothing that comes from an earlier era. An era can refer to a long period of time or a short one as long as it is something that can be defined by an event or series of events. It could be World War II vintage clothing, it could be Boyz 2 Men vintage clothing, it could be Victorian Vintage Clothing, or 1920's vintage clothing.
The important thing is that the style is of an earlier time. It doesn't have to actually be made in that time, but that it is made to be as if it were from that time. Of course, some vintage aficionados may claim that it is only true vintage clothing if it is actually from that time. Otherwise, if it is a style of yesterday that was made today, it may be referred to as vintage inspired clothing.
One of the most popular forms of vintage apparel across all eras are Vintage Dresses. This is probably because dresses never really go out of style! Of course, vintage skirts, vintage jeans, vintage jackets, and vintage accessories (like belts, jewelry, glasses, purses, and handbags) are all items of interest as well, but its really the dresses that are vintage that attract the most interest.
So even I must admit to rocking out the occassional Vintage Tee Shirt. Most of us have that favorite style of tee shirt or particular favorite band that's fallen a little bit behind the times. Consider your wardrobe for a moment, maybe you already have a vintage T-shirt hiding in there somewhere huh? Most of us do. Whether it's a peter, paul, & mary shirt or a reading rainbow shirt from 1980, most of us have certainly sported our favorite vintage tees from time to time.
