Vintage Jackets & Coats
Who doesn't love vintage jackets and coats? I know I do. I like to be different from everyone else. This means I do not care really what I wear as long as I am the one that likes it and feels comfortable on me. I go to the thrift stores all of the time to see what they have that may be vintage. You can even go online and find all kinds of vintage things you may be looking for.Vintage jackets and coats were made a lot more sturdy and heavy duty then jackets are today. They had the heavier materials back then to do so. Some times even now they no longer have some of the materials that they used to make vintage coats. Vintage army, navy, and war jackets are very popular amongst teens and preteen boys today as well.
Back in the day women wore real animal fur jackets very frequently.This is something I could never do though. As much as I like vintage fur coats this trend is not one of my particular favorites. Vintage jackets and coats are the basic design for many of the coats we still wear today.
Popular Styles For Vintage Jackets and Coats
 | Women loved leather and fur in the 70's. There was no stigma to wearing a beautiful fur coat during the 1970's. Women that could afford fur coats were often seen as stylish and classy. It wasn't until the 1980's that people started to boycott the use of real animal fur for coats. |
 The 1940's Swing jacket was a hugely popular style for women. This specific vintage swing coat was made from velvet. The use of velvet for jackets was very popular in the 1940's. | |
 | The 1970's tweed jacket has become the butt of many jokes. The fabric was itchy and uncomfortable. Oh and have you actually seen a person wearing a tweed jacket. They look positively silly most of the time. Even with all the criticism and jacket the tweed jacket is still one on the most recognized vintage jackets of all time. |
 | 1940's work jackets were popular among men in the industrial work force. They were made of sturdy fabrics and kept you warm in chilly weather. Modern men work jackets are still; modeled after vintage 40's work jacket style. |
