Weddings can tend to get on the expensive side. Even if you try hard to stay on a budget that sometimes will get messed up as well. You have to start thinking thrifty. Think about it most of the time the bride and groom and their family cover everything and depending on how big or small the wedding is or how simple or fancy things can get way expensive. That is why if you are trying to plan a wedding for under $5,000 you really have to think cheap!

How Do I Plan A Wedding For Under $5,000

1. Try having the reception and ceremony in the same location.
2. Have your wedding on an off day and in the day time it will be a lot cheaper.
3. If you can do the wedding and ceremony at someones home or a local park that will not charge you this will save a good deal of money
4. Have everyone bring something to eat. I know it does not sound good to do that but believe it or not some people really do not mind doing so. Especially if they know you do not have the funds. Then either have some of the people at the wedding or hire a few people you know to help out with serving the food. An even better idea you can just have every one help themselves
5. Gather people from the wedding to help in hand making the decorations, centerpieces, small table gifts, invitations, and anything else that can be made by hand. Plus this will give you something to talk about telling others that the centerpieces they will be taking home came from the heart cause they were made by hand!
6. Have a friend or family member make your cake. This makes a great wedding present to you and your spouse. If you do not know anyone that can do this then you can do a wedding cake made with cupcakes.You can have just the part of the cake that you and your spouse are cutting be real and the rest faux.
7. Have friends DJ the wedding and if you know and trust someone that can do photography then have them do it as another wedding gift to you.
8. Do not get the disposable cameras for each table the cost to have all of the pictures printed out can be costly. Plus kids get a hold of them and take pictures of the floor, walls and other things that are not needed
9. If others bring cameras you can ask if they can give you a CD of pictures they took and use them.
10. If you and your spouse are open then why not have a bachelor and bachelorette party together . We all know what most of them have so why not join female and male strippers and loads of fun together (if that is what you are going to have). If that's not your style why not go out to a nice restaurant and celebrate on last night.
11. Either ask to use you mothers dress or your spouses mothers dress and if altercations need doing if you know some one good at that have them do it. I am sure either mother would be honored that you would want to use their dress.
12. If you can not for what ever reason use their dress you can go to good will stores. Some wedding dress places have big sales scope them out. If you are looking for something a little more casual you can find a nice elegant dress all over for cheap
13. Same with the tuxedo ask some one if they have one. Use your or your spouses fathers, good will or big sales.
14. Try to limit the people attending. I know this can be very difficult. But the less people that come the less you spend.
15. Again if it is a non formal wedding have the bridesmaids and maid of honor get their own dresses. Letting them know colors and themes if there is any

Some of these suggestions do sound cheap but they will save you a great deal of money on your wedding day. That and if people are not sure what to get you and your spouse as a gift, the help of their services in the wedding should be a great way of giving a gift. As I said someone could DJ the wedding as a gift, make the cake, helping with decorations, use of their home or facility, photography, and even the use of someones nice car instead of an expensive limo.
