So working out may become more of a job then fun and feel like it's less worth the time it takes to do it. There are a lot of things that we can do to keep as fit and in shape as we can without hurting ourselves or not doing it at all. To many times you hear an older person hurting themselves or something more serious happening to them because they wanted to do extraneous exercise to try and keep fit.

Tips On Getting And Staying Physically Fit As A Senior

Of course working out is always a great way to keep fit and stay in shape but not all of us can do that because of some reason or another. While working out is not always necessarily the case to maintaining good health it is a contributing factor. Here is a list of different things you can do to stay fit.

  • Go to the doctors regularly. If you go to the doctors on a regular basis weather you are sick or just need a check up you should be able to keep on top of any health issue that may arise.
  • Eat properly. Eating healthy will keep you fit and in shape.
  • If there are things that you can not eat and hinder the ability to stay healthy find a supplement to take its place like a nutrition drink or vitamins.
  • If you are taking certain medications regularly keep on top of taking what you have been prescribed.
  • If you are able to exercise try to find the best program or regiment that will fit your lifestyle without hurting yourself. If you do not have the motivation to do it alone than ask a friend to exercise with you. Even taking a short walk can often boost your well being.
  • Get up every day and do the daily chores you have. If you start to feel fatigued take a breather and relax. There is no rush to get things done.
  • Do not stay in bed. Try to push yourself just a little to get up and do a small stretch to get your body going and your blood circulating. If you sit in bed all of the time then you will never feel good and not have the motivation to do anything at all.

These are just a few things that I have suggested you try. These tips will keep you up and going. Not only that they will make you feel good about yourself. Knowing you got up and did things for the day. Knowing you didn't waste the day away in bed or just sitting around is a gift in itself. From personal experience any time that I get lazy and don't do anything I feel like I have wasted a day away and do not have a thing to show for it. Who wants to do that?
