Well think about it the body is going through some major changes. Between all the hormones racing and going crazy to all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that are being consumed much faster then normal. In some cases it is true your skin can become very damaged during and after child birth. But there are ways that you can prevent this from happening. You always have to remember anyway to be as healthy as you can, not only for you but now for that baby that is depending on you to nourish and care for them. I am going to do my best to give you skincare regimen to use during pregnancy. It should help keep your skin from stretching to much as well as keep it looking good.

Pregnancy Skincare Regimen

  1. The first and foremost important thing to remember before you use anything on your skin or body when you are pregnant is to always look at the ingredients and see if it is safe to use during pregnancy. If there is no mention about weather you can or cannot use it I would ask the doctors before just assuming that it would be okay to apply. Think about it, anything you eat, drink consume or even put on your body will absorb and may go to the baby. Some of the products that are out on the market may not be good for babies at all and have a terrible result. Please ask before thinking it is okay because it is going to be on the outside of the body.
  2. You will want to keep the skin moistened. The skin while you are pregnant tends to dry out a lot faster. Due to the changes of the bodies chemistry and hormones along with the amount of vitamins and minerals that are being used up so much faster then they usually would be. Find something that the obstetrician says is okay and keep on moisturizing it. Also as you are doing this massage the skin lightly.
  3. When using soaps on your skin check out what kinds are approved by your doctor. You will want to find something that is mild and won't irritate your skin.
  4. If you are big about going out in to the sun then you definitely want to find sunscreens that are safe for pregnant women. I do not suggest that you spend to much time out in the sun though, sun is a big factor in drying skin out and other problems.
  5. As you want to do anyways all of the time while pregnant or not drink plenty of water. Now that you are pregnant you want to drink more then you were because the baby needs it as well now too.
  6. You will want to rest. If you are always up and on the go all of the time then this may take a big toll on your skin. So relax and take it easy. The skin is already going through enough.
  7. Having a healthy diet is a very big factor in keeping nice and smooth skin. You want to eat more fruits and vegetables. Stay away from fast foods and fried things. You also want to try and steer away from snacks loaded with sugar and salt.
  8. As your tummy gets bigger the body will start to itch, not just the belly but your thighs, buttocks, sides and all over. The best thing to do is never itch it. Use coco butter and vitamin E gel on it. This will keep you from having a great deal of stretch marks all over the place. No matter how bad you may want to do not itch the skin.
  9. Treat yourself good by going to get a facial that is safe for pregnant women along with a body massage. Plus this is something every pregnant mother to be deserves once in a while. She is carrying around another small person so she should treat herself.
  10. Exercising will help keep the skin firm and healthy. Yes you want to rest and relax but you also want to be up and motivated as well. Exercising will keep you in shape all the way around, not just for the skin.
