Taking care of your skin can prevent diseases, make you feel better, make you look better, and help you live longer. Proper skin care involves keeping your skin clean, moisturized, protected from the sun, wind, and other elements.

Why take care of your skin? How is it healthy? Well, there are many health concerns if you don't take care of your skin. For example, if you allow too much exposure to the sun, you can get sunburned. Getting sunburned can lead to skin aging faster than it rightfully should. As you age, your skin can become dry and leathery. In later years, it can crack frequently, exposing you to more chances of getting infections. Worse things can happen. You can get skin cancer (melanoma), and this can be fatal!

Caring for your skin can avoid many problems like these. How do you practice good skin care? When in the sun, make sure to use sunblock. Also, avoid being out in the sun for too extended a period of time. Wash your skin everyday, and if it is dry, moisturize it. Exfoliation is a good skin care practice as well. Exfoliating means removing the dead skin cells from your skin. Your skin frequently regenerates, and live skin cells push dead ones to the surface. Removing the dead cells is healthy because they can clog your pores if you don't remove them. Clogged pores can lead to blackheads and acne, which are blemishes that are unattractive at least, painful at worst. Popping these blemishes can leave permanent scars or even cause infection. So, is exfoliation healthy? Yes! It can prevent situations that could bloom into bigger problems. It is good to lightly exfoliate your skin once or twice a week.

How to exfoliate skin: pumice, an apricot scrub, or a loofah sponge are good ways to exfoliate your skin. Lightly scrub your skin to remove dead skin cells. On parts of your body where skin is extra hard (such as possibly your feet), you can be a little more rigorous
