How To Repair Chlorine Damaged Hair

If you are anything like me then you know no matter how much you love to go swimming you have to either wear a swim cap or try hard not to wet your hair in a pool. But how fun is that to have to stay above water and worry about getting your hair wet because you worry about how badly the chlorine can damage your hair. My hair is dry as it is already so when I step foot in to a pool oh wow it feels like some one has just stuck a bale of hay on the top of my head. None of us want to walk around with that on the top of our heads now do we. Not only will it dry the hair but it can cause it to break really bad and turn a green color. This happens especially on people who bleach their hair blonde or a light color. Below are some tips on how to repair chlorine damaged hair. Once again making it feel silky and soft as it once did .

Protecting Your Hair From Chlorine Damage

1. Before you go in to a pool that has chlorine you may want to try wetting the hair with water from inside. If the hair is wet from the start it will soak up less of the water from the pool. Which means soaking up less chemicals that are in the pool as well.
2. If the hair is long enough you can put it into a bun, braid or a pony tail. This will limit the amount of chlorine and pool water going directly into the hair.
3. If you apply rosemary oil before you go into the pool this will prevent chlorine damage.
4. Wash hair with an anti chlorine shampoo and conditioner before you go in to water and after you get out of the pool
5. You can always go the old fashion route and wear a swim cap in the pool if you are very concerned about ruining your hair.
6. After you have finished up swimming you should immediately wash and condition your hair.The best things to use is a shampoo and conditioner that has a good moisturizer in it. Let the conditioner sit on your hair for a half hour if possible then rinse out.
7. You can put some coconut oil on your hair before you go into the water

These are just a few ways you can repair chlorine damaged hair if you should just follow these to try and fix it as soon as it is noticed. I know I do not want to go around with uneven, broken or damaged hair. Enjoy all the swimming you want just be very cautious and give your hair love.
